The journal publishes scholarly articles and research papers in English and Arabic, focusing on the scholarly study of Indonesian ulama and their pivotal roles in shaping religious thought, social dynamics, and intellectual traditions of Muslim communities, both within Indonesia and in the global Muslim world. The journal explores how Indonesian ulama engage with classical Islamic heritage and respond to contemporary challenges through religious authority, intellectual production, and institutional involvement. It welcomes interdisciplinary approaches drawing from Islamic studies, history, sociology, anthropology, law, and philosophy. Its scope includes:
