Focus and Scope
The Journal of Indonesian Ulama (JIU) provides an international scholarly forum for research on Indonesian ulama. Taking an expansive view of the subject, the journal brings together all disciplinary perspectives. This journal encompasses original research articles based on library and/or empirical research in the field of Indonesian ulama studies especially on, but not limited to, nine main topics: (1) Ulama, the Qur’an and hadith (2) Ulama and Islamic Law (3) Ulama and Islamic Theology (Kalam) (4) Ulama and Islamic Philosophy (5) Ulama and Islamic Mysticism (Tasawwuf) (6) Ulama and Islamic Education (7) Ulama, Islamic Communication and Propogation (Dakwa) (8) Ulama and Islamic Politics and (9) Ulama and Islamic Science. The journal aims to become one of the leading platforms in the world for new findings and discussions of all the aforementioned fields. Academics from any countries who are interested in these topics are cordially invited to submit their article to JIU and to use this open-access journal. Novelty and recency of issues, however, are the priority in publishing.
